Conundrum Hotsprings

This 18.0 mile, 1 night backpacking trail has everything you ever wanted from a Colorado trail and more. Stunning views of shear peaks that reach over 14,000ft? Yup. River crossings with toe numbing water? Definitely. Beautiful aspen forests? Plenty. Hot springs?? It’s in the name!

The elevation gain throughout this hike is very gradual, with only occasional short steep sections. This is a perfect hike for beginner backpackers.

Canyonlands, The Needles, Salt Creek

Salt Creek trail in the Canyonlands Needles District is an awe inspiring backcountry trail that takes you through winding desert canyons with lush creeksides, arid plains, and dense forests. There are many arches, needles, and vibrant colors all throughout the canyons. There are also ancient Native American pictographs and ruins in several places.

The trail continues for as long as you want it to, but I recommend making Angel’s Arch your destination. This part of the trail is about 32 miles (mostly flat). I recommend giving yourself 5 days and going in the Spring or the Fall when it isn’t blazing hot. Bring trekking poles. The ascent down into the canyons is covered in slick mud and ice into March.

Overnight backcountry permits are required nightly. Bring plenty of water and I highly recommend something to filter water with.
